Laresa Kosloff's recent Super 8 films capture various events and physical activities that occur in public spaces. These activities reveal physical experiences of control and/or catharsis, for example, a club that meets on a weekly basis to laugh in public, and street performers who pretend to be statues.

The Super 8 camera acts as a filter, reinterpreting these scenes and disengaging them from a contemporary sense of time and space. Cultural activities are reframed in new ways, playing with our impressions of the past, and assumptions about the present. These works considered the subjective process of 'truth' in relation to photographic media, as well as the expressive potential of the body in relation to formal, social, and spatial constraints.
