Join us for the performance of Judy Watson's skullduggery with the Jannawi Dance Clan. Commissioned as a response to Watson's work of the same title, skullduggery stems from her research into the early 1930s theft of a skull and king plate from the grave of Aboriginal man Tiger, known as ‘King of the Mines’ of Lawn Hill near the Gulf of Carpentaria in northwest Queensland.

Jannawi Dance Clan is an Aboriginal dance company that centres on Indigenous storytelling through dance and performance. The clan’s name Jannawi means ‘with me, with you’ in Darug language, and is led by artistic director and Darug woman Peta Strachan. Jannawi perform stories of ceremonies, connections to Country, identity and cultural practice. Their practice as a dance collective celebrates the strength, resilience and stories of Aboriginal people in NSW. Community, identity and culture are strong values in Jannawi’s practice with a larger commitment to revitalise language and heighten the voices of Darug peoples and histories.
