Artspace is excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2024 NSW Visual Arts Fellowship (Emerging). While the previous two Fellowships were presented with National Art School and most recently at Carriageworks, the 2024 edition will be returning to Artspace in mid-2024 at The Gunnery, which has undergone a major transformation,   into a landmark multi-platform contemporary art centre with expanded exhibition spaces and increased artist studios.

The 2024 Fellowship program will provide six shortlisted artists to develop works for an exhibition presented at The Gunnery and will receive curatorial support and mentorship from a curatorium including Artspace’s Executive Director, Alexie Glass-Kantor; Associate Curator, Sarah Rose; and Curatorial Assistant, Yuanyu Li. One finalist will receive a $30,000 fellowship from the NSW Government to pursue a self-directed program of professional development, to undertake activities which can include travel, mentorships, internships, courses, research and the creation of new work.

Alexie Glass-Kantor, Executive Director, Artspace said ‘The NSW Visual Arts Fellowship (Emerging) remains a key exhibition for Artspace, reflective of our ongoing commitment to support generations of emerging artists through curatorial development and dialogue. We are thrilled to be presenting the 2024 edition back at The Gunnery and encourage artists of all disciplines to apply for this remarkable professional development opportunity.’
