Carol Yinghua Lu

Carol Yinghua Lu is an Art Historian, Curator, Director of Beijing Inside-Out Art Museum.

Lu holds a Doctorate in art history from University of Melbourne and directs Beijing Inside-Out Art Museum since 2017. She was artistic director and senior curator of OCAT, Shenzhen (2012-2015), guest curator at Museion, Bolzano (2013) and China researcher for Asia Art Archive (2005–2007). She was recipient of ARIAH East Asia Fellowship (2017) and visiting fellow in the Asia-Pacific Fellowship Program at Tate Research Centre (2013). She was co-artistic director of Gwangju Biennale (2012). Together with Liu Ding, they were the co-artistic directors of the 8th Yokohama Triennale (2024) and will co-curate the 19th Istanbul Biennale (2027). She was a jury member for Golden Lion Award, Venice Biennale (2011).

Carol Yinghua Lu's participation is possible through a collaboration between Artspace’s International Curators Program (ICP) and Mori Art Museum’s Global Art Professionals Development Project. The accompanying public program will also include participation from ten visiting curators from Japan as part of the Global Art Professionals Development Project, creating a direct platform for exchange between Australian and Japanese peers, and contributing to future opportunities and networks for artists and institutions across both contexts.
