The 2014 presentation of the NSW Visual Arts Fellowship (Emerging) sees the exhibition transformed from a presentation of individual works to an exhibition supported by curatorial development and dialogue. In her inaugural curatorial role at Artspace, Executive Director Alexie Glass-Kantor has co-curated the exhibition in collaboration with Sam Zammit, former Curator of Programs and curator of the 2013 iteration of the NSW Fellowship. The 2014 NSW Visual Arts Fellowship is Artspace’s key exhibition for profiling the dynamism and breadth of emerging contemporary artistic practice in NSW.

Glass-Kantor has worked closely with each of the 12 finalists to further develop their work for the exhibition. Rather than presenting a constellation of discrete projects, the 2014 Fellowship offers the Artspace galleries as an environment in which relationships between works unfold to offer an in-depth encounter with emerging contemporary art in NSW.

2014 NSW Visual Arts Fellowship Recipient: Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran

This Fellowship is offered by the State Government through Arts NSW to enable a NSW-based visual artist at the beginning of their career to undertake a self-directed program of professional development, valued at $30,000.
