Leyla Stevens (b.1982) is an Australian-Balinese artist who has made a significant contribution to expanded documentary genres in Australian video art, as well as exploring the reparative potential of artmaking framed within political and social justice issues. Her recent work focuses on matrilineal histories within Bali’s art canon, and the shifting meaning of ancestral objects as they migrate through Eurocentric collection practices.
