During Keg de Souza’s three-month Darling Foundry residency she hosted a series of events exploring food and how it intersects with art, architecture, radical spaces and radical organising. Titled, Gonflables et amuse-bouches, which literally translates into English as ‘Inflatables and mouth-amusers’, the project featured as it’s centerpiece a hand-stitched inflatable constructed out of disposable picnic table cloths and also included; a screening of Robert Franks’ documentary FOOD about Gordon Matta-Clark and Carolyn Gooden’s restaurant of the same name, a large scale map, a ‘food’ games night with local activist kitchens and a series of formal and informal discussions.
These events were documented through a publication which featuring contributions by a number of Montréal locals. The Sydney launch of the publication and artist talk will happen as a picnic inside the inflatable on 6 July, 2pm.
