Slow /Dark is a dual component project by Kusum Normoyle that distributes the voice in, through and across materials. A speaker installation produces voice sound dislocated from the body and inserted into the lens of the visual. A collaborative publication by Peter Blamey, Hethre Contant and Kusum Normoyle embedded with Techno fetish, back and front ends, stacks and transmissions coincides with the exhibition.
Kusum Normoyle works in voice, sound, performance, and video. She takes resonance, screaming, feedback and interventions and puts them to work in gallery, experimental music and dance contexts. Kusum Normoyle, Hethre Contant and Peter Blamey are active members of the Sound and Materials research group at UNSW Art and Design.
This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body.
