Artspace and Mori Art Museum’s Global Art Professionals Development Project collaborate for International Curators Program
Following the successful relaunch of Artspace’s International Curators Program (ICP) through a recent visit by Naomi Beckwith, Deputy Director and Jennifer and David Stockman Chief Curator at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, and Artistic Director of documenta 16, Artspace is pleased to announce the second iteration of the 2026 ICP in partnership with Mori Art Museum’s Global Art Development (GAD) Project. The program continues Artspace’s commitment to research-led exchange, curatorial dialogue, meaningful connections between local and international communities, and long-term international partnership.
Through this partnership, Artspace and the Mori Art Museum GAD Project will jointly host a visiting delegation of 10 Japan-based emerging curators and 4 curatorial mentors for a series of studio visits, professional exchanges, and public conversations engaging with artists, institutions, and contemporary practice across Sydney.
The program culminates in the public discussion Points of Contact: Museums & Biennales Between Worlds, bringing together leading international curators and museum directors to reflect on the evolving role of biennales, museums, and curatorial practice within shifting global conditions. The discussion features Adriano Pedrosa (Artistic Director, Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand), Mami Kataoka (Director, Mori Art Museum), Eungie Joo (Curator, Writer, Educator), and Carol Yinghua Lu (Director of Beijing Inside-Out Art Museum), moderated by Victor Wang (Executive Director, Artspace).
The traveling delegation also includes: Hyesu Cho (Independent Curator and PhD candidate, Tokyo University of the Arts), Sunhye Cho (Associate Curator, Mori Art Museum), Oko Goto (Curator), Mio Harada (Curator, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo), Kaho Ikeda (Independent Curator), Qiuyu Jin (Independent Curator and Researcher), Kokoro Kimura (Independent Curator), Atsuhiro Miyake (Curator and Co-Director of Curatorial Collective “HB”), Keisuke Nakaya (Curator, Hyogo Prefectural Museum Of Art) and Manabu Yahagi (Associate Curator, Mori Art Museum).
The ICP supports visiting curators through research visits, studio engagement with artists, public programs, and professional exchange with peers and colleagues across local institutions. Grounded in reciprocity, the program connects local practice with global conversations, creating meaningful opportunities for Australian artists and communities.

The International Curators Program is developed and presented by Artspace in partnership with Mori Art Museum and the Japan Creator Support Fund (Japan Arts Council).
