Remy Faint

Remy Faint is a contemporary artist working across painting, sculpture and installation. His practice traverses global histories and languages of painterly abstraction, drawing on collection-based objects and materials connected to his Chinese heritage to investigate themes of opacity, cultural exchange and the imaginative possibilities of inherited histories.

Silk is central to Remy’s work, as both surface a subject, combined with processes of assemblage and collage that build toward a visual language moving between wall-based painting and expanded sculptural forms. His large-scale installations and ceramic sculptures negotiate spaces between formal display strategies and more speculative modes of presentation, responding to architectural settings as active frames for how cultural identity is displayed, obscured or made legible.

Remy has presented solo exhibitions at Cement Fondu, Cassandra Bird Sydney and Paris, Mosman Art Gallery and Craft Victoria, and has shown at venues such as the Art Gallery of NSW, Rockhampton Museum of Art, Artspace, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, among others. He has been awarded the Tim Olsen Drawing Prize and the Gosford Art Prize, and was a finalist in the 2024 Create NSW Visual Arts Fellowship (Emerging) and the 2025 Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship. In addition to his art practice, Remy is also a casual academic at UNSW Art and Design.
