These short videos continue my process of unpacking, responding to and imagining my everyday. My masked self, often placed in a domestic setting, becomes a mechanism for me to attempt to make sense of myself and the world around me. In my work I remix my relationship to place, being a mother, an artist, my cultural makeup and the tensions I experience in the spaces in-between. Visually, I stage myself in my ‘home’ and mostly reference the textile traditions of historical Greater Syria and 19th Century Western European costumes. The sounds I used in my videos are drawn from the people and places I am connected to in Lebanon and in Australia.
