On a regular basis Artspace presents special events including lectures by visiting theorists, critics and curators; screenings; workshops; book launches; open studio days and performances. Recent guest lecturers have included Jalal Toufic (2006), Amelia Jones (2006/2010), Gerardo Mosquera (2007), Cesare Pietroiusti (2008), Maurizio Lazzarato and Angela Melitopoulos (2010), Paul O'Neill (2011), and Rex Butler and ADS Donaldson (2011). Screenings have included MultipleCity, a documentary by Rich Potter about an international urban art project in Panama City of the same name curated by Cuban curator and critic Gerardo Mosquera and Panamanian curator Adrienne Samos. (The film was introduced by Gerardo Mosquera.) Recent one-off performance events have included Brut Loops (2008), featuring and curated by The Loop Orchestra; Circadian Rhythms (2007), curated by Gail Priest; Mistral: Acoustic Sound (2006), curated by Caleb K; Hi-ate-us, featuring The Loop Orchestra and curated by John Blades; and Tomorrow, again curated by Scott Donovan (all 2006). Artspace has presented discussion events around book launches for Rethinking the Contemporary Art School (Brad Buckley and John Conomos, 2010) and What is Contemporary Art? (Terry Smith, 2009). For the 2010 Biennale of Sydney Artspace hosted Superdeluxe@Artspace featuring three months of live performance, music, film screenings and pecha kucha nights. 

The Artspace 2011 Pulbic Programs also featured two symposia events: 'Eastern Seaboard' provided a platform for critical reflection on the conditions, conceptual frameworks and experiences of artist collectives from Australia’s urbanised southeast; and 'Mirrors, Doubles, Shadows, Caves: Plato and Contemporary Art' considered the significance of Plato’s allegory of the cave for present day conceptions of the real with particular reference to contemporary art, especially in relation to Mischa  Kuball's Artspace ehxibition Platon's Mirror (2011). 

Artspace events and public programs are free and open to the public unless otherwise specified. No bookings or RSVPs are required for free events unless noted.
